Santigold

American singer Santigold is gearing up to the release of her brand new album Master of My Make-Believe, which is due out in the UK on 23 April.

It’s preceded by the new single Disparate Youth, out 9 April, which has already garnered a lot of love from blogs and radio stations.

It might be four years since the release of her debut album Santogold, but the record wasn’t four years in the making.

As well as collaborations with artists as diverse as Beastie Boys and NERD to Amadou and Mariam, she was on the road for two years, she then went and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for the clean water crisis and flew straight from Ethiopia to LA to work with electronic producer Switch in the studio.

After that the list of collaborators on the album grew, with her working with Buraka Som Sistema, noted producer Greg Kurstin, Dave Sitek, Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Ricky Blaze who produced the recent dance floor hit Gyptian’s Hold Yuh.

Santigold has been speaking to 6 Music News about the new album and she started by talking about the new single Disparate Youth and how she is feeling to be back:
